I couldn’t finish this one. I can understand a typo here and there but this book had an alarming number of errors of all kinds on almost every page! Story telling and writing are two different skills and unfortunately this author only has one- well maybe one, I didn’t actually get very far into the story to find out.

Nice build up to just flop

The author does a nice job of developing the characters and plot but a few chapters were irrelevant and no value to the storyline. The ending was rushed and a big flop. Small item...book needs proofreading as it has a number of typos and grammatical errors.

Ugh . . . What a clunker.

This book is just idiotic. Horribly leaden in its prose (the killer has “a secret lair”), cliched in its plotting (the heroine is independent, even rogue, so she loses her badge and gun) and characterization (she has a moody and uncommunicative teenage daughter and romantic tension with her partner) but mostly it cheats. The protagonist is a great detective because she instinctively knows who did it and who didn’t. She doesn’t investigate or deduce. She doesn’t detect and interpret clues. She just knows. It might as well be a book about a fortune teller. A complete waste of time.

Everything about this is great. Makes you connect with every character and feel everything about the cases. You can almost picture it being a movie!! I love it can’t wait to read the rest

Good, but could have been better.

Well written and the characters were well developed. However, I felt like the ending was rushed. The build-up to the climax was great, but in my opinion, I wish there was more “conversation” between Riley and the big baddie. That said, I’m excited to see Riley’s journey throughout the series.

Best Series I’ve Ever Read

I wish I were able to give higher than 5 stars. I’m on book 10 of the series and I can’t read them fast enough. If you’re looking for a series that will keep you guessing and keep you wanting more, then this is for you. I have purchased many books and this series is by far the best I have come across. I don’t think twice about purchasing the next one.

Amazing!

This book is so good! I finished it within a week and I really couldn’t put it down once I started. There was some repetition and punctuation/grammatical errors. However, you can find that in any book you pick up. My only comment is that in this book you’ll find that some phrases or words the author uses for a specific character are a bit unrealistic. The 14 year old daughter, for example, seems to use words and phrases that no 14 year old would say, especially how the author portrays her. Other than that this book was amazing!

Liked the book but it really annoys me when American characters are narrated with a British accent. It’s hard for me to get the feel for the setting when the voice is all wrong for the story.

Although I don’t feel like I got a clear picture of Riley herself, I did receive enough details of her to understand her work ethics and how it reacted with her private life. Unfortunately, I felt like it was a down-graded model of Thomas Harris’ famed novels. Even to go so far as to use the name “Gumm” as a character.

I started reading this because the reviews were great. Soon learned it’s very slow and boring. Not much action at all. I finished it because I kept thinking the whole time that it was going to get better but never did. I won’t be continuing on with this series.

I’ve never written a review before but this book was so good I felt obligated. I love crime thrillers in general, but this book topped the list. The character dynamics felt natural and the action genuinely had my heart pounding. I didn’t even hesitate before buying the next one after reading the first in only a day. Do yourself a favor if you like the genre and read this book!

Your novel is way to enjoy my life

As an 80 year old woman, I live with more pain than I can live with without using a heavy type of little brown pill to lower my pain level to one I can live with. Pain(at least what I must daily cope with) takes away my interest in almost every thing Except this hurt. however at last., I have found a novelist, whose writing can compete with my.pain level, and hold my interest long enough To enjoy this book all the way through. This was a pretty good book. I finished it in a few hours, so that says A LOT about how drawn in I was with the story. It would have gotten 5 stars but quite a few chapters felt rushed..as if the writer was trying not to go over a certain word count, but still making the attempt to tell the story. I’m about to download the 2nd book in the series, so you definitely have gained a fan in me.

I would give this book five stars in a heartbeat if there weren’t so many mistakes! Accidents happen but I’ve found most of his books are this way. However, both books I’ve read have been great reads!

If you like a hysterical female...

I sincerely hope there are no real FBI agents as irrational, impulsive, and overwrought as the Riley Paige character in this book. Granted, her “amazing” psychic abilities would be useful for a real agent, but they are far too convenient to be believable. I’m afraid her character is just too much a contrivance to be sympathetic and relatable. This could be a good story, if only.... I won’t be reading any more of this series. I’ll take a Tracy Crosswhite over this character any day.
